Children with cleft lip and palate in Jijiga Äthiopien

In our health projects, we are committed to providing access to healthcare for people in need and sustainably strengthening the healthcare systems in Somalia and Ethiopia.

Somcare e.V., together with our partner DCKH e.V., has established a permanent center for children with cleft lip and palate in Karamara Hospital Jijiga, Ethiopia. With the help of two trained local doctors, up to 30 patients are operated on free of charge every month. The impact is profound – not only in restoring the patients’ physical appearance and functional ability, but also in alleviating their psychological and social stress.

These surgeries have helped overcome the stigma, isolation, and trauma that often accompany facial deformities. Our support has brought hope, healing, and a renewed sense of dignity to these children and their families.
