Who we are
SOMCARE is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization headquartered in Germany, with field offices in Somalia and Ethiopia. Established by Somali immigrants residing in Germany, SOMCARE brings together professionals with medical expertise and activists with experience in charity and community development. Since 2013, SOMCARE has made significant contributions to the healthcare sector, including sending over 100
tons of medicine and other relief supplies to Somalia and Ethiopia. The organization has been recognized for its dedication to healthcare improvement and continues to build strong partnerships to support its charitable initiatives. SOMCARE strives to “create a bridge between charity organizations and the poor population in horn von Afrika to promote health services,” driving positive change in the region.
Goals
• Providing comprehensive support for individuals with cleft deformities, a prevalent disability within the Somali population. Our facility offers surgical and rehabilitation services for all children born with cleft lip and palate, regardless of their social status.
• Improving Health Care for Extremely Poor Internally Displaced People in Somalia. The internally displaced persons are a particularly disadvantaged group. Women and children are considered particularly vulnerable. • Equal access to quality primery education. Ensure that all girls and boys have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education.
